How to get to Kittilä

Location: Finland

Is Kittilä airport open in winter? What are the connections that work in winter time? Do you think it could be a suitable location for a New Year's international event, to enjoy the local lifestyle and see the Northern Lights? Thanks!

Hi Flavio, Winter is our high season for tourism. There's daily flights from Helsinki and charters and line-flights from all over Europe to Kittilä Airport starting from the second half of november (when the worldcup downhill-skiïng takes place here) until the first of may (the official end of our wintersports season). We have several very suitable locations for new-years events around here and yes: When the weather is right and there's enough solar-activity there's a good chance of enjoying the marvelous northernlights. If you are serious about coming over here, just let me know and we'll set up some activities :-)
