    POST EARTHQUAKE UPDATE: Following the earthquake on 22 Feb 2011 most of the historic buildings have been seriously damaged or destroyed. The CBD area is still cordoned off with no access to the public. Many of the backpacker hostels were in the central city and are closed but there are hostels and motels further out from the centre that are undamaged and open. Christchurch is still a beautiful city worthy of visiting. ********** I am unavailable to guide tours in NZ until late 2011 because I will be in Europe being guided by locals. *********** WHEN I AM BACK IN CHCH: I'm often available during the day Monday - Friday to meet up for a walk or a coffee. There are many beautiful spots in and around Christchurch. In summer I spend a lot of my time swimming and surfing and would be happy to show you a few of my favourite wild swimming places. Following are just a few possibilities for trips: * A pleasant day walk from central city through Art Centre, Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park to Mona Vale and return. * Walking the Summit Road with wonderful views of the city, Lyttelton Harbour, Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps. Uses public transport. * Skinny dipping trip to any one of a variety of beautiful wild places that lend themselves to swimming naked in nature. Ocean, lake or river. Some accessible by public transport, some by private car (share fuel costs).
